Asian Metal visits Shanxi Bada Magnesium

On the morning of January 24th, 2026, Ms. Daphne Zhang, the Consultant & Senior Product Manager of Asian Metal, visited Shanxi Bada Magnesium Industry Co., Ltd. and engaged in discussions with General Manager Mr. Yingwei Liu, the Vice General Manager Guangning Zhang and Financial Controller Mr. Guohui Zhang on the cost status of primary magnesium producers and trends in industry application development. From the perspective of cost restructuring on the supply side, the breakthrough application of vertical furnace technology, while reducing costs and improving efficiency, is simultaneously shifting the primary magnesium cost curve downward and enabling quality grading. Furthermore, on the demand side, as the magnesium-aluminum price spread continues to widen, "magnesium substituting aluminum" and "magnesium substituting plastics" have evolved from technical concepts into economically driven realities. The application boundaries in diverse scenarios such as automotive lightweighting and consumer electronics are accelerating outwards. Based on this, both parties reached a consensus on the broad prospects for the magnesium industry in 2026, driven by the dual engines of lightweighting and cost-effectiveness.
