The Chinese manganese market saw softness in price as some small manganese plants in South China resumed production before the Spring Festival. But transactions were infrequent back then. So, the majority of manganese producers in China lowered their quotations after the holiday, driving down the concluding price in late February with a drop of RMB300/t (USD46.1/t) by the end of the month. Affected by the price reductions in the domestic market, the export price followed suit. As demand from steel plants remained poor and supply became abundant on higher operation rates, the price of Chinese manganese flake is expected to see further drops in March.
