Prices for Chinese bismuth ingot climbed constantly in August as Chinese producers held their prices firm with unwillingness to sell
. During July and August, the overseas market entered into the summer break while downstream demand was sluggish amid the slack season in the domestic market, so recorded a lowest level and were unlikely to rise . But prices for the material began to pick up with some private funds inflowed, and producers raised prices following the upward trend with a reluctance to sell . Bismuth ingot output in Yunnan and Henan was affected by environmental protection inspections and producers took the opportunity to raise prices with limited sales . As a result, prices for bismuth ingot increased constantly in August, but they softened towards the end of the month due to scarce transactions resulting from limited downstream demand.
