In the first half of November, bismuth prices didn't decline any further, aided by bullish factors affecting the market for base metals; but as most traders and end consumers were just watching from the sidelines, few transactions were concluded in the market during this period
. In mid-November, when some traders set out to purchase bismuth ingots, most producers took this opportunity to liquidate their bismuth ingot stocks, leading to a notable increase in enquiries and plenty of transactions in the spot market . In late November, public capital entered the market, trying to purchase large volumes of bismuth ingots and therefore prices for the material were boosted; bismuth ingot producers, who had little pressure on stocks and were confident about the future direction of the market, intended to keep their prices firm, leading to difficulties in purchasing spot bismuth ingots at lower prices; and domestic consumers maintained stable demand, merely making small-volume purchases, given the great fluctuation in prices . In the export market, major overseas consumers mainly purchased through long-term contracts and therefore had little influence upon the spot market, while other consumers simply kept their usual low purchase levels; as a result, the export market during November was dull.
