South Korea's magnesium raw materials imports up by 8.1% YOY from January to May 2017

From January to May, 2017, South Korea imported a total of 11,200t of magnesium raw materials, up by 8.1% YOY. In particular, its imports of pure magnesium ingot and alloy remained growing. From January to May, 2017, South Korea imported 446t of magnesium scrap, soaring by 350.5% YOY. In 2016, it imported a total of 530t of magnesium scrap, only 84t more than that from January to May, 2017.
During the past ten years, South Korea’s magnesium raw materials imports culminated in 2013 and began to drop after 2014; it imported 14,400t in 2016, up by around 3% compared with 14,000t imported in 2015. Regarding magnesium alloy ingot used for producing accessories of electrical and electronic devices, it imported 7,631t in 2016, down by about 5% compared with 8,035t imported in 2015.
