On July 8, a construction commencement ceremony was held in Xiyang county, Shanxi province for the 100,000tpa magnesium alloy project invested by Jinzhong Aotian Light Alloy Technology.
With a total investment of RMB3.2 billion (USD457 million) and a land area of 306 Mu (20 . 4 hectares), the project will be built in two phases and will have a total annual production capacity of 100,000t . Its phase-one project will have an investment of RMB680 million (USD97 . 17 million), a land area of 100 Mu (6 . 67 hectares) and 30,000 square meters of standardized workshop; when it is built, it will have an annual production capacity of 50,000t, and will realize an annual production value of RMB1 . 6 billion (USD229 million) and taxation of RMB98 million (USD14 million) . The project will produce magnesium alloy products used in new energy vehicles and Mg-alloy parts with high added value used in Mg-alloy extruded section (plate), magnesium sacrificial anode, NEV battery holder, Mg-alloy hub and high-precision Mg-alloy plates for public transportation vehicles.
