Shanxi announces new material industry development plan

On July 14, the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Shanxi Province released the 2020 new material industry development plan. According to the plan, by the end of 2020 Shanxi's new material industry should reach or get close to annual sales revenue of RMB150 billion (USD21.45 billion) and will become an important base for boosting high-quality development of the province's manufacturing industry.
According to the plan, in 2020 Shanxi will advance development of four key fields including semi-conductor materials, carbon-based new materials, biology-based new materials and special metallic materials, and will initiate 61 major projects in the four fields.
Meanwhile, Shanxi province will also cultivate eight special industrial chains including special steel-cold rolled plate-oriented silicon steel/axle steel-UHV transformer, electrolytic aluminum/magnesium-Mg/Al alloy plate-auto/rail traffic light-weight parts, and so on.
