U.K.'S auto output down by 44.61% YOY in Aug

According to data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), in August 2020 the U.K. produced 51,039 vehicles in total, down by 44.61% from 92,153 vehicles produced in August 2019. In particular, in August 2020 its auto output for selling overseas decreased by 41% YOY to 43,244 vehicles, and auto output for selling on its domestic market decreased by 58% YOY to 7,795 vehicles.
But the U.K.'s auto output is usually low in August on the whole and auto plants often choose to cut their production in the summer months and allow staff to take leave. Its auto production in 2019 was higher mainly as the result of its breaking up with the European Union, and a number of auto plants suspended production as earlier as in April to give themselves enough time to get prepared for new trading terms, and then kept in operation in August.
