Japan's sales of imported-brand new battery electric vehicles (BEV) increased by 66.6% YoY to 14,341 units in 2022, which exceeded the 10,000 unit threshold for the first time, and the country's total new car sales reached 242,226 units in 2022, down by 6.7% from the previous year, according to Japan Automobile Importers Association (JAIA).
