On February 8, the Department of Natural Resources of Sichuan Province issued the overall plan of mineral resources of Sichuan (2021-2025)
The main objectives of the plan include: During the "Fourteenth Five-Year Plan" period, 10-15 new large and medium-sized mineral sites of strategic mineral resources will be discovered. The amount of coal resources will be increased by 100 million tons, vanadium-titanium magnetite by 100 million tons, copper (metal) by 250,000t, lithium (Li2O) by 800,000t, niobium (Nb2O5) by 6,500t, tantalum (Ta2O5) by 3,000t, rare earth (REO) by 300,000t, and graphite (mineral) by 9 million tons . By 2025, the annual mining capacity might reach 30 to 40 million tons of coal, 70 million tons of vanadium titanium magnetite, 3 million tons of copper ore, 1 million tons of lithium ore, and 20 to 25 million tons of phosphate ore.
. It is mentioned that the construction of large and medium-sized nonferrous metal mines in Panxi and Northwest Sichuan will be accelerated, and the total number of copper, lead and zinc mines will be stabilized at around 120 in 2025 . The annual minimum mining scale of the new vanadium-titanium magnetite mines, lead-zinc mines and copper mining planning blocks should not be less than 6 million tons, 100,000t and 300,000t respectively. The main objectives of the plan include: During the "Fourteenth Five-Year Plan" period, 10-15 new large and medium-sized mineral sites of strategic mineral resources will be discovered.
