Chinese antimony trioxide prices stay firm

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 21 Apr 23 - As antimony ingot prices remain firm, antimony trioxide suppliers hold their offers unmoved this week while consumers are cautious about replenishing stocks, with stable prices seen on the market. Current mainstream prices for Chinese antimony trioxide 99.8%min stay firm at RMB72,500-73,500/t (USD10,541-10,687/t) delivered D/A 30 days, unchanged from early this week. Given the firm price of raw material, insiders believe that prices for Chinese antimony trioxide 99.8%min would remain stable in the coming week.
A producer in South China said, "We now quote antimony trioxide 99.8%min at RMB72,000/t (USD10,468/t) EXW D/P and sold about 10t at the price just yesterday. Downstream consumers now keep purchasing from hand to mouth, and the market sees slightly more deals closed but the overall market trading remains light. We sold about 20t at RMB71,500/t (USD10,396/t) late last week". The producer added that offers they got this week for antimony ingot 99.85%min are still above RMB82,000/t (USD11,922/t) EXW D/P and they didn't close any deals this week, while they last purchased about 30t at RMB81,000/t (USD11,777/t) a week ago. The producer added that the supply of raw material keeps relatively tight and prices stay firm, but given the slow growth in downstream demand, they expect to produce less than 200t of antimony trioxide in April, against their regular monthly output of around 200t. In view of the firm price of antimony ingot but the slack demand, the producer believes that prices for Chinese antimony trioxide 99.8%min would stay unmoved in the coming week.
With an annual production capacity of 5,000t of antimony trioxide 99.8%min, they expect to produce about 160t in April, on par with last month. They produced about 3,500t in total last year and around 550t so far this year. The producer holds no stock in hand now, the same as one month earlier.
