China's first Mg-alloy light-weight truck trailer delivered

On April 24, China's first Mg-alloy light-weight trailer for heavy-duty trucks, which is co-developed by Xi'an Jiaotong University and other research institutes, was delivered at the i harbour, a national platform co-sponsored by the Chinese Ministry of Education and Shaanxi province.
Different from using magnesium alloys in individual parts of truck trailers, the research team adopted the magnesium alloy light-weight concept through the whole process from heavy truck designing and manufacturing to test, and solved core technical barriers including producing even and fine alloy ingots, precision plastic forming, stable assembling and controllable high-efficiency protection.
