NBS: Power generation up by 6.1% YoY in Apr

China generated 658.4 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in April, up by 6.1% YoY and 1.0 percentage point faster than in March, with an average daily power generation of 21.95 billion kilowatt-hours, according to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). In the first four months of this year, electricity generation was 2,730.9 billion kilowatt-hours, up by 3.4% YoY.
In detail, thermal power increased by 11.5% YoY, and the growth rate was 2.4 percentage points higher than that in March. Nuclear power increased by 5.7% YoY, and the growth rate was 1.1 percentage points faster than that in March. Wind power grew by 20.9% YoY, and the growth rate was 20.7 percentage points higher than that in March. Hydropower dropped by 25.9% YoY, and the decline was 10.4 percentage points more than that in March. Solar power generation fell by 3.3% YoY after rising by 13.9% YoY in March.
