1. Market Highlights
Dragged by soft demand from LFP, LNCMO, LCO, and LMO industries, Chinese industrial and battery-grade lithium carbonate prices continued declining in September. Traders and some producers continuously decreased their prices, fearing further price reductions . However, supported by cost, lithium carbonate prices fell at a slower rate this month . At the same time, some downstream consumers began restocking for October in the second half of this month ahead of the National Day holiday.
Chinese industrial and battery lithium hydroxide monohydrate 56.5%min markets witnessed slow buying activities in September due to the wait-and-see attitudes of consumers from grease and LNCMO industries . Further dragged by sharply reducing prices of lithium carbonate, both industrial and battery lithium hydroxide monohydrate prices went down continuously this month . At the same time, as the price of lithium hydroxide is higher in foreign countries than in China, most domestic producers have focused more on exports.
Many manufacturers of LFP and LNCMO saw limited orders from spot market this month dragged by weak demand of EV industry. A small number of LMO manufacturers reported receiving more orders this month because downstream clients are stocking up for the Double Eleven Day shopping event, however, they still have no confidence on the demand for Q4 under the sluggish economy.
Under the downtrend prices of lithium carbonate, Chinese LCO prices went down continuously this month. 3C market demand rises by about 10-20% this month as consumers think that prices of LCO have reached a comparatively low level and began to restock.
