Shandong Hongchang breaks ground on light-weight aluminum alloy project

On February 26, a number of projects with total investment of RMB21.1 billion (USD2.93 billion) kicked off construction in Zouping, China, including a special lightweight alloy material project developed by Shandong Hongchang Light Alloy Co., Ltd.
As a light-weight material production base of Weiqiao Pioneering Group, the project has a total production capacity of 200,000 tonnes per annum of special lightweight alloy materials, with a total investment of RMB1.5 billion (USD208 million).
The project is expected to have 50,000tpa of capacity coming on stream this year. When fully operational, it would achieve annual production value of RMB5.5 billion (USD764 million) and tax revenue of RMB700 million (USD97.23 million). As one of the key high-end manufacturing projects for the aluminum industry in Weiqiao, the project would boost the establishment of a 30-billion-yuan industrial cluster.
