1. Market Highlights
Mainstream prices for Chinese HC ferrochrome kept stable in February as most suppliers firmed their offers and held a wait-and-see attitude, while mainstream prices for LC ferrochrome declined due to soft demand. Mainstream prices for silicochromium moved down due to weakening demand for LC ferrochrome near the end of the month . Import price for ferrochrome in China remained flat as buyers kept regular purchases and overseas suppliers held offers unchanged.
In late February, the import prices for South African, Turkish and Zimbabwean chrome ore in China moved up as domestic suppliers lift price up to test the market after the Lunar New Year's holiday given the increased offers from overseas suppliers. In addition, the rising demand from consumers also led to the increased imported prices for chrome ore in China.
Due to weak demand, prices for Chinese chrome metal decreased in early February, while prices for chromium oxide green and chromic anhydride prices were flat due to steady market movements.
