BEIJING (Asian Metal) 12 Mar 24 - Most Chinese bismuth suppliers lifted their prices further over the past week and most downstream consumers still watched the market. Currently, Chinese bismuth ingot 99.99%min mainstream prices increased to RMB54,000-55,000/t (USD3.40-3.46/lb) EXW D/P, up by RMB500/t (USD0.03/lb) from one week ago. Considering that the downstream stayed in no hurry to place orders, insiders believed that the mainstream prices of Chinese bismuth ingot 99.99%min would stay unmoved in the following week.
A trader in South China disclosed that most producers refused to sell bismuth ingot 99.99%min at prices lower than RMB54,500/t (USD3.43/lb) EXW D/P at present, while they could accept the price as low as RMB54,000/t (USD3.40/lb) one week ago. "We last purchased 33t at RMB52,500/t (USD3.31/lb) two weeks ago", said the trader. As their downstream clients just purchased from hand to mouth, they had no intention to accept higher prices and predicted that the mainstream prices of Chinese bismuth ingot 99.99%min would show a stable trend in the following week.
The trader, with a regular monthly trading volume of 30t of bismuth ingot 99.99%min, expected to sell around 30t this month and sold about 15t last month. They hold around 30t of stocks now, in line with late last week.
A producer in South China disclosed that they they had no intention to sell bismuth ingot 99.99%min at prices less than RMB55,000/t (USD3.46/lb) EXW D/P today, while they considered selling at the price as low as RMB54,500/t (USD3.43/lb) early last week. "We last sold around 33t at RMB53,500/t (USD3.37/lb) late last month", said the trader. Despite that they received 3-4 inquiries late last week, they held back from selling due to limited stocks at present. Therefore, they forecasted that the mainstream prices of Chinese bismuth ingot 99.99%min would remain firm in the upcoming week.
The producer, based on a production capacity of 4,800tpy of bismuth ingot 99.99%min, holds no stocks now, in line with last month. They expected to produce around 100t in March and they produced around 100t last month. They produced about 1,870t in 2022 and around 1,100t in 2023.
