Senze Coal & Aluminum to resume normal alumina production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 20 Mar 24 - Liulin Senze Coal & Aluminum Co., a medium-sized alumina producer in Shanxi of China, schedules to restart normal operation from late March and might produce over 100,000t in April, a source from the company reported to Asian Metal.
"We would reach full operation from late this month and might produce over 100,000t of alumina next month," said the source, who once cut production by 50% from late last year due to bauxite shortage. As the bauxite supply increased, they plan to restart normal alumina production. The alumina production volume in March might remain at 60,000t and they hold no stock now.
The alumina producer, with two production lines and the total production capacity of 1.6 million tonnes per year, produced over 1.3 million tonnes in 2023 and around 150,000t so far this year.
Present mainstream prices for alumina 98.5%min in north China keep at RMB3,250-3,300/t (USD451-458/t) EXW, down by around RMB30/t (USD4/t) from one week ago due to the increased supply. For the improved operating rate, the alumina supply will increase next month.
