Xinfa Chemical to restart the second alumina production line

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 20 Mar 24 - Xiaoyi Xinfa Chemical Co., a major alumina producer in Shanxi of China, plans to restart the second alumina production line on March 20 with the annual production capacity of 1.2 million tonnes, a source from the company reported to Asian Metal.
"We would restart the second production line with the production capacity of 1.2 million tonnes per year on March 20," said the source, adding that they would produce over 100,000t in March and around 200,000t in April with no stock now. They once suspended the production line in early January due to the bauxite shortage.
With three production lines and the total production capacity of 3.6 million tonnes per year, they produced around 2.4 million tonnes in 2023 and over 250,000t so far this year.
Current mainstream prices for alumina 98.5%min in Shanxi keep at RMB3,250-3,300/t (USD451-458/t) EXW, down by RMB30/t (USD4/t) from late last week. As the alumina supply would increase while the demand remains stable, alumina prices in China went down.
