BEIJING (Asian Metal) 28 Mar 24 - As most consumers held wait-and-see attitudes, African tantalite export market remained stable in the past week. The mainstream export prices of African tantalite 30%min hover at USD82-84/lb Ta2O5 FOB Africa at present, unchanged from early last week. As most suppliers have no confidence in the market, insiders predict that the African tantalite export market prices would show downtrend in the coming week.
An African trader claimed that they quoted USD84/lb Ta2O5 FOB Africa for tantalite 30%min and could accept USD83/lb Ta2O5 for orders no less than 2t today, unchanged from early last week. "We last sold around 2t to a regular client at around USD83/lb Ta2O5 early last week", said the trader, who received two inquiries in total last week, while they received no inquiry so far this week. As downstream consumers remain inactive in sending inquiries, the trader plans to accept a counteroffer of USD1.0/lb Ta2O5 next week and predicts that the mainstream prices would decrease by around USD1/lb Ta2O5 in the coming week.
Based on a regular monthly trading volume of 2t, the trader sold nearly 20t in 2023 and about 4t so far in 2024. They would sell around 2t in March, unchanged from February. They hold 1t of stock at the moment, down by 1t from last month.
"We offer USD85/lb Ta2O5 FOB Africa for tantalite 30%min and could accept USD84/lb Ta2O5 if the clients could purchase no less than 2t at present, the same as early last week", said another African trader, who received no inquiries after they last sold around 2t at around USD84/lb Ta2O5 to a regular client in mid-March.
