Guizhou Galuminium restarts alumina production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 2 Apr 24 - Guizhou Galuminium Alumina Co., a small alumina producer in southwest China, restarted production in the middle of March and produced around 20,000t last month, a source from the company reported to Asian Metal.
"We resumed production in the middle of last month and produced close to 20,000t in March," said the source, who targets around 50,000t in April and holds no stock now. They once suspended production in early February due to the bauxite shortage.
With two production lines and the total production capacity of 900,000tpy, they produced around 500,000t in 2023 and around 60,000t so far this year.
Current mainstream prices for alumina 98.5%min in southwest China keep at RMB3,300-3,350/t (USD456-463/t) EXW, stable from late last week. As aluminum smelters in Yunnan would increase production in April, the purchase demand for alumina would improve.
