On March 26, development work began on Hongge vanadium-titanium magnetite mine in Yanbian, Sichuan, the biggest V-Ti magnetite deposit with the highest potential value of mineral resources in China
Hongge V-Ti magnetite mine has a mining claim of 5.78 square kilometers, with proven V-Ti magnetite resources of 3 . 256 billion tonnes, containing 285 million tonnes of titanium dioxide, 5 . 99 million tonnes of vanadium pentoxide . It is expected that the mine will process 40 million tonnes per annum of iron ore and produce 8 . 90 million tonnes of V-Ti magnetite concentrate, 2 . 83 million tonnes of titanium concentrate and 20,000 tonnes of sulfur cobalt concentrate per year by 2030, ensuring a stable supply of raw materials . Initially surveys showed that Hongge mine has a service life of 80 years and would develop an industrial scale of more than one trillion yuan (138 billion US dollars), and held create over 10,000 jobs.
