Development work begins on China's biggest V-Ti magnetite mine

On March 26, development work began on Hongge vanadium-titanium magnetite mine in Yanbian, Sichuan, the biggest V-Ti magnetite deposit with the highest potential value of mineral resources in China. During the groundbreaking ceremony, Panzhihua municipal government has reached a series of cooperation agreements with Sichuan Natural Resources Investment Group Co., Ltd. on the development and investment of Hongge mine.
Hongge V-Ti magnetite mine has a mining claim of 5.78 square kilometers, with proven V-Ti magnetite resources of 3.256 billion tonnes, containing 285 million tonnes of titanium dioxide, 5.99 million tonnes of vanadium pentoxide. It is expected that the mine will process 40 million tonnes per annum of iron ore and produce 8.90 million tonnes of V-Ti magnetite concentrate, 2.83 million tonnes of titanium concentrate and 20,000 tonnes of sulfur cobalt concentrate per year by 2030, ensuring a stable supply of raw materials. Initially surveys showed that Hongge mine has a service life of 80 years and would develop an industrial scale of more than one trillion yuan (138 billion US dollars), and held create over 10,000 jobs.
