BEIJING (Asian Metal) 3 Apr 24 - Over the past week, aluminum fluoride producers in China raised prices quickly, while buyers become prudent in new orders now. Present mainstream prices for aluminum fluoride 61%min in China keep at RMB9,300-9,500/t (USD1,285-1,313/t) EXW, up by RMB200/t (USD28/t) from late last week and market participants forecast higher prices in the coming two weeks but lower than RMB10,000/t (USD1,382/t) delivered.
An aluminum smelter in Henan reported that they could not accept the new offer of around RMB10,000/t (USD1,382/t) delivered for aluminum fluoride 61%min now and plan to watch the market in the coming month, while they usually place one order each month. "We ordered around 500t at RMB8,800/t (USD1,216/t) delivered in the middle of last month with the freight around RMB100/t (USD14/t)," said the source, who predicted that the price might reach around RMB9,300/t (USD1,285/t) delivered in the coming two weeks due to the firm demand.
The aluminum smelter, with the aluminum fluoride consumption capacity of 5,000tpy, would use around 300t in April, the same as last month and holds around 300t in stock now. They consumed around 3,600t in 2023 and around 900t so far this year.
A smelter of aluminum in Inner Mongolia confirmed that they hold enough aluminum fluoride stocks for consumption in the coming two months and do not plan to buy in April, meanwhile, they could not accept the present best offer of around RMB10,000/t (USD1,382/t) delivered.
