Xinxiang Ecology Aluminum plans to restart normal alumina production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 8 Apr 24 - Guangxi Longzhou Xinxiang Ecology Aluminum Co., a medium-sized alumina producer in south China, plans to restart normal operation from late April and would produce around 80,000t in May, a source from the company reports to Asian Metal.
"We might restart normal operation from late this month and the production volume would reach around 80,000t next month," says the source, who would produce around 40,000t in April and holds no stock now.
Based on one production line and the production capacity of 1 million tonnes per year, they cut production from last August due to the bauxite shortage supply and produced around 800,000t in 2023. The production volume so far this year reached over 100,000t.
Current prevailing prices for alumina 98.5%min in south China stay at RMB3,340-3,380/t (USD462-467/t) EXW, stable from late last week and spot sales remain thin. As aluminum smelters in Yunnan would increase production, alumina prices get support now.
