BEIJING (Asian Metal) 9 Apr 24 - Gravita India Limited, a medium-sized secondary aluminum alloys producer in India, produced around 1,200t in March down from close to 2,000t in the previous month, a source from the company reported to Asian Metal.
"We cut production and produced around 1,200t last month down from around 2,000t in the previous month due to the aluminum scraps shortage," said the source, adding that they might not restart normal production until the middle of this year. Focusing on sales in the Indian domestic market, they hold no stock now.
With four smelting furnaces and the total production capacity of 30,000tpy, they produced close to 5,000t so far this year and around 12,000t in total last year.
Present mainstream prices for secondary aluminum alloy ingots ADC12 keep at USD2,400-2,450/t delivered in India, stable from late last week. Due to the short aluminum scraps supply, producers in India could not reach full operation now.
