Aluar targets around 440,000t of primary aluminum production in 2024

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 19 Apr 24 - Aluar Aluminio Argentino SAIC, a major primary aluminum producer in Argentina, plans to produce around 440,000t in 2024, the same as last year, a source from the company reports to Asian Metal.
"We would produce around 440,000t of primary aluminum this year, similar to last year," says the source, noting that the production volume for April would reach around 37,000t, stable from last month. They focus on exports of aluminum while depend on imports of alumina from Brazil and Australia.
With the production capacity of 460,000tpy, their electricity supply has 60% from wind and hydro-power, 40% from natural gas.
Current mainstream prices for aluminum ingot 99.7%min stand at USD2,800-2,850/t delivered in the local market, up by around USD50/t from one week ago and the demand remains firm.
