Wanji Aluminum plans to restart one alumina production line

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 23 Apr 24 - Luoyang Xiangjiang Wanji Aluminum Co., a medium-sized alumina producer in Henan of China, plans to restart one production line with the production capacity of 400,000tpy one month later, a source from the company reports to Asian Metal.
"We plan to restart the third production line with the production capacity of 400,000tpy one month later," says the source, adding that the production line will depend on imported bauxite. They might produce 80,000t in April and the production volume would reach over 100,000t in June. Focusing on long-term contracts, they hold no stock now.
With three production lines and the total production capacity of 1.4 million tonnes per year, they produced around 250,000t during the first three months of this year and around 1.1 million tonnes in 2023.
Current mainstream prices for alumina 98.5%min in north China keep at RMB3,260-3,280/t (USD450-453/t) EXW, up by RMB10/t (USD1.4/t) from one week ago and the supply remains tight now because of the bauxite supply shortage.
