On November 10, China's GEM entered into an investment agreement with PT Vale Indonesia to jointly build a high-pressure acid leaching (HPAL) plant and associated facilities (including but not limited to sulfuric acid plant, dressing plant and tailings pond) in Central Sulawesi, Indonesia, which will process laterite-nickel ore supplied by Vale Indonesia to produce mixed hydroxide precipitate (MHP), an intermediate product containing nickel and cobalt, with a target production of 66,000 tonnes per annum, for a total capital expenditure of up to USD1
