SAIC Motor R&D Innovation Headquarters will debut the second generation of magnesium alloy cases for EV drive system using semi-solid processing technique on November 29, becoming the world's first application for Mg alloy cases of electrical drive system in mass-production EVs.
SAIC Motor combined the semi-solid processing technique with high pressure die-casting process to produce the new magnesium alloy cases with better mechanical performance, corrosion resistance and higher density.
Taking the first generation of magnesium alloy cases for example, the mass reduction is over 7Kg compared with the traditional aluminum alloy cases.
