The central Yunnan rare and precious metal cluster has been selected as the national advanced manufacturing cluster for the first time, according to 2024 list of national advanced manufacturing cluster released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
Central Yunnan rare and precious metal cluster is centered in Kunming High-tech Industrial Development Zone, and consists of more than 240 companies, including industry leaders such as Sino-Platinum Metals, Yunnan Tin, Yunnan Germanium, Yunnan Chihong Zn & Ge, Yunnan Titanium, and Zhongxuan Liquid Metal.
In 2023, the cluster generated 60% of the total output value of China's rare and precious metal industry, with a global market share of more than 20% for tin products, a domestic market share of over 40% for germanium products, and a domestic market share of over 80% for liquid metal thermal conductive paste and sheet.
With a number of national-level laboratories and innovative platforms, the cluster provides hundreds of precious metal products with thousands of specifications, including tin-indium new materials, indium phosphide, high purity germanium powder, optical fiber grade germanium tetrachloride, corrosion-resistant titanium alloy, for aerospace, electronic information manufacturing, new energy and other high-end industries.
