On January 10, Shaoguan Smelter of Zhongjin Lingnan Nonferrous Metals (Nonfemet) started trial production at its minor metals recycling and refining project and the phase one of 120,000tpa zinc-based advanced materials project.
The minor metals recycling and refining project, with a total investment of RMB220 million (USD30.01 million), began construction in September 2023 . It adopts the self-developed and first-of-its-kind technology to recycle gallium, germanium and indium from raw materials and further refine these minor metals to semiconductor grade gallium, germanium and indium (99 . 9999%-99 . 99999%), with a total annual production capacity of 45 tonnes.
The phase one of 120,000tpa zinc-based advanced materials project, with a total investment of RMB160 million (USD21.82 million), uses the leading technology to produce hot-dip galvanizing products, die-casting zinc, and zinc alloy sacrificial anode . The first phase, when fully operational, will produce 50,000 tonnes of zinc-based advanced materials annually, which will meet the demand from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
