Xinzhou accelerates development of magnesium-based new materials industry

The government of Xinzhou, a city in Shanxi province, has released the government work report for 2025, outlining plans to accelerate the growth of the new materials industry.
As part of this initiative, the city aims to advance the second phase of the Yunhai Magnesium's project, which has a total investment of 4.6 billion yuan (636 million US dollars) and is set to complete trial production within the year . Additionally, the city expects to promote the third and fourth phases of the Yunhai Magnesium's project, with a combined investment of 4 billion yuan (553 million yuan).
Xinzhou also plans to push forward several key projects, including the Haoye 450,000tpa refractory materials project with investment of 1.5 billion yuan (207 million US dollars), the Turuixin 100,000tpa magnesium-based industrial chain project with investment of 1 . 8 billion yuan (249 million US dollars), and the Jinchuan Hongtai 200,000tpa magnesium-based light alloy and deep-processing integration project with investment of 5 . 8 billion yuan (801 million US dollars).
The city's broader vision is to establish a specialized industrial hub capable of producing one million tonnes of magnesium-based new materials annually and to develop an industrial cluster valued at 100 billion yuan (13.82 billion US dollars).
