Ningxia Baichuan to build needle coke technology upgrade project

Recently, the Ecological Environment Bureau of the Management Committee of Ningdong Energy and Chemical Industry Base reviewed the environmental impact assessment report for a needle coke technical upgrade project developed by Ningxia Baichuan New Materials Co., Ltd.
With a planned investment of 34.25 million yuan (4.72 million US dollars), the project is a technological transformation initiative which involves upgrading the existing needle coke production unit, including the replacement of a fractionating tower and an oil dump tank.
The existing facility has an annual production capacity of 50,000 tonnes of needle coke. After the technical upgrade, the project will have a revised product output of 15,260 tonnes of asphalt coke, along with 7,000 tonnes of triple blend oil, 14,700 tonnes of anthracene oil, 140 tonnes of light oil, and 72 tonnes of sulfur (30% water content) annually.
Construction is set to begin in April 2025 and is expected to be completed within six months.
