On April 28, Sinomine Resources Group Co., Ltd. held a groundbreaking ceremony for its polymetallic recovery project at the Tsumeb Smelter in Namibia. The project focuses on the extraction of strategic metals such as germanium, gallium, and zinc, with a planned total investment of USD223 million. It is designed to process 200,000 tonnes of slag annually and is expected to produce 33 tonnes of germanium ingots, 11 tonnes of industrial-grade gallium, and 10,900 tonnes of zinc ingots per year once operational.
Sinomine Resources acquired full ownership of the Tsumeb Smelter in August 2024. Leveraging its global mining integration capabilities, the company is rapidly transforming the facility into a comprehensive polymetallic recovery center.
