Rare earth biohydrometallurgy R&D base inaugurated in Baotou

On June 7, the Northern Rare Earth Industry Technology R&D Center and Rare Earth New Materials Technology Innovation Center launched a joint biohydrometallurgy R&D base at Northern Rare Earth's Huamei Refining Company in Baotou. This marks a major step forward in China's green rare earth recycling.
The base develops bio-separation technologies using advanced microbial methods to efficiently extract and separate rare earths from tailings and urban waste. Demonstration lines processing 10tpa of tailings and at least 1tpa of rare earth waste are already operational and tested. The project supports greener recycling and improves resource use and product value.
