A research team from China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) and the Inner Mongolia Geological Survey Institute has identified a new rare earth mineral named Huanghoite-(Nd) the mid-section of the main orebody within the Bayan Obo deposit in Inner Mongolia
Bayan Obo is the world's largest rare earth mine, with over 210 minerals discovered so far, and the number of new minerals continues to grow. Huanghoite-(Nd) is a new carbonate mineral dominated by neodymium, a key material in high-performance magnets used in electric vehicles, wind turbines, and electronics.
This discovery not only deepens scientific knowledge of rare earth minerals but also provides new possibilities for developing neodymium resources independently.
