Chinese foundry industry settles preliminary target

China Foundry Association held a project review meeting about the Development Plan of Chinese Casting Industry in Beijing recently.
The Plan puts forward four targets for Chinese foundry industry during the twelfth five-year plan: firstly, in terms of the economic scale, the total output of casting products will reach 50,000,000tpy by 2015 and the sales income can reach RMB750 billion; casting enterprises will reduce from 30,000 to about 20,000 and to 10,000 or so by 2020; the average production capacity will increase from 1,200tpy to 2,500tpy and to about 5,000tpy by 2020.
Secondly, in terms of the types of the casting alloy, ductile iron castings can reach 35% or more by 2015 and the proportion of non-ferrous alloy castings is expected to increase to around 20%.
Thirdly, casting techniques in advanced technology, self-innovation and those involved with the solution of large or key equipment, the proportion of localization will be higher than 95%, such as key castings of large hydropower, thermal power, wind power, nuclear power and ships; to achieve mass production of rail vehicles, automobiles, 3C products, aluminum and magnesium alloys and other large, complex, high-precision casting products; to speed up the construction of casting industry cluster and the implementation of "hundred-thousand project," and focus on developing leading integrated enterprises and supporting training thousands of "special, unique, specific, new" competitive enterprises and strive to control the number of foundry enterprises below 10,000 in 10 years.
Fourthly, in terms of energy saving and emission reduction, to reduce energy consumption significantly and let 30% of the enterprises achieve the level of the developed industrialized countries; foundry wastes to reach the national standards or local standards; to reduce energy saving target by 10% and reduced emissions by 15% on the basis of the results during the eleventh five-year plan period.
