Participants hoped to see a warmer market in the Golden September and Sliver October, especially after going through the dim activity in July and August as September is considered as a typical boom season for zinc industry; and after the plummet of zinc price, the expectation that the price may move up gradually in September prevailed in the market
. However, on the contrary, the zinc price aggressively dropped throughout September as panic sentiments were trigged among investors owing to the worse European debt crisis . Meanwhile, the spot activity of zinc ingot remained dim and domestic zinc smelters kept low capacity utilization due to low price, raw material shortage and weak demand .
