December aluminum scraps import down by 6% MOM in Guangdong

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 10 Feb 12 – According to China Customs, China aluminum scraps import continued to see an increase in December 2011, with import of 278,377t, a slight increase of 0.2% month-on-month.
However, Guangdong province, China's the largest importer of aluminum scraps, saw a slight decrease of the import volume of the material in December. Guangdong imported 150,610t of aluminum scraps in the last month of 2011, 6% down from the number of November.
What’s more, for a second time, the aluminum scraps import market share of Guangdong saw a low level of below 60%, with 57.6% and 54% in November and December respectively . In other months, the market share ranged from 61-67%.
In December 2011, Foshan Xiangao Metals Recycling, Delta Aluminum, and Foshan Mingjie Import and Export were the top three aluminum scraps importers in Guangdong, with imports of 13,101, 12,017 and 8,999t respectively.
Following the more strict rules of aluminum scraps import, increasing customs fees and low customs, Asian Metal thinks the aluminum scraps import market share of Guangdong in 2012 may continue to decrease.
