BEIJING (Asian Metal) 7 Mar 12 – Although downstream demand is still keeping weak, most domestic tantalite processors are now out of raw materials stocks, so the inquires in Chinese import market are increasing with the suppliers holding their quotations firmly at USD95-100/lb CIF China.
A processor whose average grade tantalum oxide output is 3-4t per month shared with Asian Metal that domestic consumers of tantalite are now out of stocks and most of them are keeping a close eye on the tantalite prices. “We are now intending to replenish some stocks of tantalite although the downstream products demand does not rebound at the present time,” disclosed the source.
According to the source, most of the suppliers offered USD95-100/lb CIF China for tantalum concentrate (Ta2O5 30%min) and he also said that the mainstream dealing prices are at USD90/lb CIF China, which can be accepted by most of domestic consumers.
A Taiwan-base dealer whose monthly trading volume of tantalite ranging from 5-20t also shared with Asian Metal that he received some inquires from mainland processors and the inquiries are still on the rise. “But now we have no stocks as the supply seems a little bit tight in the Congo market,” said the source, revealing that he also deal tantalite in European market as the both prices and payment type are more acceptable than Chinese tantalite importers.
The source also said that most of the domestic consumers accept the prices of USD90/lb for tantalum concentrate at the present time. “But we can sell at least at USD100/lb for the same materials in E . U . market,” said the source.
