Asian Metal visits Shandong Sunrise Fuel, Chalco Qingdao International Trading, Shandong Weiqiao Aluminum & Power and Shandong Haiyuanda

On June 27-28, 2013, Friday Gao, senior analyst from Asian Metal visited Shandong Sunrise Fuel Co., Ltd., Chalco Qingdao International Trading Co., Ltd., Shandong Weiqiao Aluminum & Power Co., Ltd., and Shandong Haiyuanda International Trading Co., Ltd.

On the morning of June 27, Friday Gao visited Shandong Sunrise Fuel Co., Ltd., a trading company of bauxite, iron ore and other fuel related products. Mr. Ma Qiang, manager from the International Trade Department introduced their business to Friday Gao. Ms. Shang and Ms. Liu from the department also showed their opinion on current bauxite market. They import bauxite from Indonesia but find it hard to sell at satisfying price due to the clear market.

In the afternoon, Friday Gao met Li Feng, manage from Chalco Qingdao International Trading Co., Ltd. Mr. Li expressed his concern on Chinese bauxite situation in the future due to limited resources. They replenished much bauxite stock in the first half year and planned to resume full alumina production with 2 million tons per year. They also try to make use of Australian origin bauxite. Mr. Yang Shujun, manager from Administrative Department also showed his opinion on current bauxite import market.

On June 28, Friday Gao firstly visited Shandong Weiqiao Aluminum & Power Co., Ltd. and met Mr. Liu Gang, general manger from bauxite Purchasing Department. According to Mr. Liu, they have imported a lot of bauxite in the past few months and they now mainly use bauxite from Indonesia and consume around 2 million tons bauxite per month. They do not have strict request on bauxite, so they have more resources. In addition, Mr. Zhao Qianfang, general manager from Sales Department talked about current alumina market with Friday Gao. According to Mr. Zhao, their alumina refinery will transfer to Wudi county of Binzhou, Shandong province gradually. Currently, the refinery is running at 5 million tons per year. In the coming year, they may make use all alumina by themselves, as their aluminum ingot capacity may reach 3 million tons per year.

On the afternoon of June 28, Friday Gao visited Shandong Haiyuanda International Trading Co., Ltd., a major trading company of alumina, bauxite and nickel, etc. Mr. Zhang Xianli, vice general manager from the company introduced their business to Asian Metal. They mainly import bauxite from Indonesia and may have cooperation with Harita from Indonesia in the future.
