U.I Industry visits Asian Metal

On Thursday May 8, Mr. Akio Yamashita, sales director of U.I Industry Co., Ltd. paid a working visit to Asian Metal – Beijing Office – and sought expert views on some bulk alloys products, notably on ferromanganese, ferrosilicon, and manganese flake market movements in Asia.
Samuel, an analyst covering ferrosilicon markets in Asia exchanged views and compared notes with Mr. Akio Yamashita who expressed concerns on the impact that detour ferrosilicon shipments through Vietnam and Hong Kong are having on their business as prices are depressed against companies that usually purchase ferrosilicon 75%min at official price with direct shipment from Chinese main ports.
Frank Chen, a manganese flake market analyst had fruitful discussion with Mr. Yamashita on the current demand and supply especially on the latter influencing export price in the next two-three months. As one of the leading manganese flake traders in Japan, U.I Industry achieves a sales volume of around 1,000tpm for the material, which has kept steady purchasing quantities from China so far this year.
Mr. Yamashita shared views on future trend of manganese flake market with Frank, and he disclosed that although prices witnessed fluctuation in China recently, demand from Japanese end users is likely to be generally stable in the coming two months.
